Wow. We went from a fairly structured (busy) school schedule to a much anticipated non-structured summer vacation. We were so happy to close the books on this school year. It was great, and I'm already getting excited about the new curriculum I ordered for next year...but we needed a vacation!
Problem? You know that saying...Give 'em an inch and they'll take a mile? Yeah. We got some mileage issues at our house. It's not just the kids. I get up, shower, do dishes and laundry...ya know, the basics. But I have no schedule (except piano lessons), my house isn't clean. And exercise? Umm...
It's time to snap out of it. There can be freedom in a little structure and planning. I was recently telling a friend that I need to make a meal plan again, and she said, "Just do it." So, here I am. (Thanks, Kristin!) I needed that. I also need accountability. (Hence the babbling.) I'm more likely to stick with something if someone else knows I'm trying to do it, so I'm telling you guys:)
Today, I spent some time getting reacquainted with Shaun T. We're not friends. Between you and me, I'm not totally convinced that he's not part machine. Last time we hung out, he gave me shin splints. Still, you can't argue with the sweat and muscle soreness this guy brings on. He knows what he's doing. Anyway, he introduced me to some ab muscles I hadn't remembered meeting before, and then I dusted off the bowflex so my other muscles wouldn't feel left out.
I was reminded of a few things today:
- I love how I feel after a workout.
- I do have 45 minutes for exercise...it just may be disguised as computer time.
- When I exercise, my children either (a) join in or (b) quickly run upstairs and quietly play to avoid a workout...it's kinda win-win :)
- The body does remember...but man, can it hold a grudge.
- Procrastination will always keep my goals out of reach.
If you made it through all that...thanks! Sometimes a girl just needs to ramble :)

I can't even blame summer vacation for slacking off here. I have not done any mealplanning since April and I don't think I remember what exercise is anymore.
Isabel asked me yesterday if I were still loosing weight and I said no. She then told me I should join Biggest Looser and do like them. I told her that I couldn't do that, but I that I would love to have Bob here. She then proceeded to tell me she could be Bob and Sofie could be Jillian when we are on vacation. Then they will make me exercise. Sounds very promising.
My husband wants to make a bet and see who looses the most weight while I'm in Norway. Well I'm in... ;)
Hi Marie,
Oh, do I understand! I just began my exercise regimen this week after being "off" more often than "on" and my body has had a few things to say to me. :) But, it's so worth it!
We too need to get back to a semblance of a schedule or else we'll putter the summer away and not have much to show for it.
I have read a few books lately and that's been really nice considering I usually flip through cookbooks and the like to get what I need, but never really sit and READ.
Hope your summer is wonderful!
Love your new blog look - really pretty, clean, and fresh!
Wow, I have so much to say:
1. Way to go on getting back on schedule.
2. Way to go on 45 min. of exercise...that's a nice chunk of change...I can only ever squeeze in 30 min. at a time...keep it up, girl!
3. I hear you on the lack of summer schedule and we're trying to get back to a little somethin' ourselves.
4. I miss you.
5. I want to talk to you on the phone for 2 hours everyday.
6. Your header looks great and the blog looks oh-so summery!
7. I love you!
I like the new blog look!
Yeah, a schedule is a must if things are going to get done around here. I can spend WAY too much time on the computer.
This was funny!
But not.
Because I'm pretty sure if I was pushing you to make a menu plan...then you are pushing me to exercise!
Maybe tomorrow???
I love the freedom of summer, but...it's nice to have structured freedom, no?
Love ya and Happy Friday!
Oh man can I relate! I had such plans for our summer but so far have not done one thing. I was just telling my husband this. Monday starts a new way. Fitness, nutrition, organization and some ordered fun. I really can't wait. 2 weeks of laziness is more than enough. Thanks for the confimation. :)
