We've been revamping all of our favorite recipes to make them as healthy as possible. The munchkins are thrilled that we found a way to keep hot cocoa in our diets...especially on these cold snow-play days!
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
dash salt
1/4 to 1/2 cup raw honey (We started with 1/2 cup, but we'll be reducing this gradually. Shhh;)
1/3 cup water
4 cups milk (Raw goat or cow's milk is the healthiest. If not available, try to get organic, antibiotic and growth hormone-free milk from the dairy case.)
3/4 teaspoon vanilla
In a saucepan, mix cocoa, salt, honey and water. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture boils; boil and stir 2 minutes. Stir in milk and heat. DO NOT BOIL. Remove from heat; add vanilla.

Mmmmm.. this recipe looks so delicious! Great job adjusting it to be healthier. I love hot chocolate!
Yum! That does sound good.
One of our friends ins starting his own apiary, and I'm so excited that we'll be able to get raw honey from him. Our youngest is plagued with allergies during the spring and summer and raw honey would help a lot.
Driftwood Girl~ Thanks...I was delighted when I tried it. Sooo chocolatey! ;)
