My baby boy went to work today.
Not "take your son to work day."
A real job.
Of his own.
For the day.
He helped a friend of ours finish up some home renovation details.
He worked hard.
Painting.
Mowing.
Eating at Dairy Queen.
I'm so proud of him.
Did I mention that he shaved for the first time the other day?
SHAVED.
What is going on?
Who is this person with the deep voice, contact lenses, and large shoes?

My poor children are suffering this summer.
Their grandparents moved away and left their much-loved in-ground swimming pool under new ownership.
So, my kiddos will get through the summer, like many deprived kids, with a sprinkler, water guns, and an occasional trip to the public pool, park, or beach.
With much empathy, I purchased a "kiddie pool".
These little water bugs have been begging to fill it ever since we brought it home.
So, today I pumped some H2O in that thing and watched for some joyful splashing and swimming.
I don't think they believed me when I told them how cold well water is.
It's frigid.
They were convinced that a boiling kettle of water would do the trick.
It so did not.
We didn't even fill the thing.
There was no point.
Men...or mice?
I do have one tough little cookie...
She even convinced one of her brothers to join her...
...but not the other.
I guess wisdom does come with age :)

Oh mama, your baby IS growing up! ;o)
Oh my goodness! Your giant boy makes me want to cry. Mine will be giant, and shaving one day! :( I guess that's part of the plan. The whole growing up thing is tough. Funny funny pics of your kids just staring at the pool.
I read this out loud to my mom yesterday and said, "what is going on" right before I read that part in your post!;) Too fast, girl...too fast!!!
Isn't it fun to see them grow up? Kind of bittersweet, but fun. :)
Well water is SO cold~she's a very tough cookie!
