Field Trip Friday...State Museum

We took another field trip today. While we won't be doing this every single week, we are trying to get a couple in a month. It's one of the reasons I really wanted to homeschool the boys, so it's about time I get 'em out there!

Those who truly know me will understand what a big deal today's trip was. We went to the Pennsylvania State Museum. In the city. Yes, I know Harrisburg is a far cry from New York or D.C., but trust me. It's city enough for this simple country girl. I'll take beat-up back roads over one way city streets any day! When we go downtown, Hubby drives. Unfortunately, Hubby can't take off work every time I want to take a field trip. So, I packed up my crew and headed into another dimension;) It actually wasn't that bad. We circled the block 3 or 20 times and found a sweet parking spot right beside the museum. We didn't even have to cross the street!

 After checking out the exhibits, we stopped in at Curiosity Connection. It's a discovery area within the museum designed for 1-5 year olds. Tootsie had a blast! She's already asking when we can go back. Okay, we all had a blast. {That's me down there, sitting on a pig. It wasn't real. Give me some credit.}

We just finished studying China this week, so we ate lunch at a Chinese buffet. Authentic? Not really. But the food was decent, and it was a lot of fun. All three munchkins loved it.

This is the kind of day I need to remember when I'm having a meltdown difficult day of homeschooling. :)

Have a great weekend!

How fun. I like to take my kids on fieldtrips too even though I don't homeschool. I always make grand plans of going to different museums and such and I never find time. Since we have finally made plans of moving to Norway next year I need to get to it now. I should schedule it all tomorrow.
Great pictures btw.

Looks like you had a great day! Love those field trip days when we get out and see something other than these "four" walls. It's refreshing! Thanks for sharing the great photos with us too. :)
