Going out with a splash!

I've been saying for weeks that I'm ready for fall but still firmly holding on to summer. Well, we loaded up the minivan and the pop-up and headed to Virginia to visit my hubby's parents for Labor Day weekend. Pap and Gran don't live far from Assateague Island, so we all got some beach time in. We had a great time and a wonderful visit that went way too fast!

Earl didn't put any kinks in our travel plans, but he sure did create some rough water! Boogie boards were definitely out of the question. The kids didn't seem to miss them, though. They had a blast!

Goober even lost a tooth while we were at the beach! This is the first tooth that the dentist didn't have to "coax" out, so he was pretty excited.

We came home with sand in the car and a little sunburn on our skin. I think it was enough "summer" to  get me through the winter. (at least, until we're covered with snow and ice and I can't feel my toes.)

We were welcomed home by the burning bush at the end of our driveway. It's now wearing a canopy of red fire that wasn't there when we left, as though fall is saying, "Ready or not...here I come."

Hihi,
I had it the same way this spring when we missed out on a real winter here in the Northwest. It went from fall to spring in one giant leap. So when summer started to sneak itself in I went home to Norway to snow, blizzards and cozy nights by the fire for four whole weeks.
Now I am looking forward to fall and I hope to get to see four seasons instead of only the three from last year.

Yes, sometimes winter seems to drag on here, and the other months seem to fly by. But, in general, I'm usually happy to welcome whatever new season is on its way in. I would miss one if it were skipped completely. (I think:)

Oh, your photos made me miss the beach! Glad you got to soak up enough sun to last you for the beginning of the cold season :) I'm so ready for fall!

Driftwood Girl- I love the beach. I often wish we lived closer to one. For now, I'll have to make a once-a-year trip to the waves last me through these cold PA winters.

What sweet memories to store away for the blizzards to come!
