9 cups flour
1/4 cup sugar
2 cups shortening
3 Tablespoons baking powder
1 Tablespoon salt
Mix together until crumbly. Store in an airtight container or resealable plastic bag.

can oil or butter be substituted for the shortening?
Michelle~ I'm thinking maybe coconut oil or palm oil would work, because they are solid at room temp and can be stored in the pantry. I'm not sure how the liquid oil would work. As for the butter...It would require the mix to be refrigerated, but it might work. (You can tell that I don't really know what I'm talking about...sorry;) Let me know if you try one & how it turns out!
