Burlap Rosette Wreath

I stumbled on this burlap wreath tutorial the other day and thought it would be a great wreath to get me through the holidays. It's simple and elegant. The burlap makes it a great fall decoration, but I think it could hang on my door straight through Christmas. {if I don't get bored and make something else before then}

Start with a wreath.
You could use foam, sure. But you'd miss out on the lovely straw mess you see in my pics:)

Cut strips of burlap a few inches wide.

Wrap strips around the wreath, hot gluing the ends, until it's completely covered.

All burlapped up

Take a strip of burlap, and start twisting it and wrapping it around itself, gluing it as you go.

Make a whole bunch.

Attach a ribbon to your wreath for hanging.

Start gluing on your purdy posies.

Just for a little glam, I added some sparkle. Why not, right?
I put some fabric paint glitter on a paintbrush...

...and brushed it onto the rosettes.
It's hard to see it in the photos, but it does add a little something.

Tie a bow and glue it to the hanging ribbon.

I don't have a hook on my door, so I use a staple gun to fasten the ribbon to the top edge of the door.
It works great. No hook or hole needed.
When I remove my wreath, there's no trace of what was there.

I love your wreath. I might borrow the idea of burlap flowers from you and do something like that for the wreath I made this year. Eventually I will blog about it, hopefully soon. First I just have to find my camera and get the photos transfered to my computer.

That is CUTE! I like the black ribbon with it, and stapling it to the top of the door is so smart.

Thanks, Mercedes! I'm normally a color girl, but I'm glad I went with neutral for this one:)
