My New Old Chair

This project has been on my to-do list for so long.

A Chair makeover.

My mother and father-in-law gave me this cute chair a while back (thank you:), and it's been living in my garage ever since. I loved the cut-out details and figured that with a new pad, it would be good as new. It was pretty sturdy, so all it needed was some cosmetic fixes.

I primed it and painted it white. My plan was to glaze it with a brown color, but after I had it painted, I decided to try distressing it with sandpaper. It's subtle, and I love it.

Next, I covered a new pad with fabric and reattached the seat. It's the perfect height for my quilt frame :)

Ready for the before and after?

That is a beautiful chair. I need to reupholster my diningroom chairs, but I think that will wait a little longer. I have a lot of work ahead of me you see.
Way to go crossing things off your list.

Your chair looks amazing! I love the white and the new fabric. I've never done anything like this. I'm too chicken! Maybe one day I'll work up the courage. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks, Driftwood Girl! The trick is to have nothing to lose:) If you find a fixer-upper at a thrift shop or if someone gives you a piece in need of some TLC...it's perfect.

Marie- That's hilarious! and so true.... Oh no, now I'm going to be lugging home chairs without a home to perform experiments on! Should be fun, if I ever find one :)

I have a plan...you can sell your experiments on Craig's List. That way, you can play and learn...and make a profit. (Do you think my husband would buy that?) Of course, knowing me...I would become attached to my ugly duckling furniture and would not be able to part with it:)
