I knew I wanted to give this slipcover-thing a try, but I honestly didn't have furniture that was suited for...slipping. My couch with reclining capabilities is (I think, literally) on its last leg, and I don't want to purchase fabric for that when I know the end is near.
Enter my amazing friend, Jill.
She called one day to tell me she was getting rid of a much loved princess chair that's held both of her sweet girls over the years. She thought Tootsie might like it. (Tootsie...who squeals with delight when her favorite little Blue's Clues chair at the library is unoccupied...)
I was so excited! Tootsie's birthday is coming up, and I thought this would make a perfect present. And...it's the perfect size to try my hand at slipcovering!
Kristi has a great post about the basics of slipcovering, so that's what I followed. I didn't take step-by-step pictures, because I really had no idea what I was doing. A tutorial was not happening with this project. Anyway, it's not perfect, but it turned out really cute! If you want more tricks and answers, Kristi even has an e-book, The Lazy Girl's Guide to Custom Slipcovers. I'm sure it's packed with little secrets she's learned along the way, and I may need it when I tackle a larger project.
But for now...

That turned out great Marie! Let's find something else to slipcover!
That is beautiful! Wow, I'm thoroughly impressed.
You did a fantastic job! I'm now following you to see what else you create. How much fabric did you use? I came very close yesterday to buying fabric and trying to recover 2 sad looking chairs I have in our office but chickened out. You've inspired me to go for it! Have a great day!
There's some awesomeness right there.

Thanks so much, ladies!:)
LUV the fabric, and you did a fabulous job! I'm jealous! I'm scared to try. My sewing ability is almost none, but I may get brave and try it with a sheet first. Good job!
